Atlas Contractors, Inc is a General Engineering Construction Company and has been contracting under its current name since September of 1982.
Jim Mahoney, founded Atlas in Long Beach California in 1946 starting with just a skip loader. Jim liked
to keep the company small and personal. Later, Jim's son Jay moved to Truckee, CA and began JJ Mahoney and Son.
Jay began by sealing driveways in and around the Truckee - Tahoe area. Jim's company, Atlas Engineering and Construction,
relocated to Truckee, CA in 1978. Jim and Jay combined the two companies in 1982, renaming the combination, Atlas Contractors, Inc.
Atlas Contractors mostly built small driveways along with random paving jobs. Soon Jay's brother Clay, along with some of Jay's close friends
joined Atlas making the company what it is today.
Unfortunately Jim Mahoney passed away in 1999. Jay Mahoney, who has been in the construction
industry for more than 37 years, is President of the corporation. He also is the license qualifier in California.
Clay Mahoney, Jim's son, who has been in the construction industry for more than 32 years, is Vice President, paving
general manager, and the license qualifier in Nevada. Maureen Mahoney, Jim's Daughter is the Secretary of
the corporation and is in charge of licenses and insurance. Barbara Mahoney, Jay's wife, is Treasurer and is
semi-retired. Jay's son, Jake Mahoney has been with the company for 11 years, is a Vice President, and holds a General Engineering license in NV and CA.
Along with the Mahoney Family, several other family friends are managing, controlling, accounting, estimating, and building a
strong future for Atlas. Atlas Contractors is proud of its employees, and thrives on a family atmosphere.
Several people have been with Atlas for more than 20 years.
